Gunther January 7, 2019 2:02 pm Hello Everyone, Looking for some assistance in getting my Xeon x5460 with C0 stepping to run in my EVGA 680i LT SLI. I have installed the cpu and the stock bios recognizes it, but I cannot boot into windows. I am trying to update my bios with the 771 microcodes using Method 2 as my bios.bin did not work with Method 1.
After executing cbrom195.exe YOUR_BIOS.BIN /cpucode CPUCODE.BIN it stopped at 55% and said there was not enough space. However when I run cbrom195.exe YOUR_BIOS.BIN /D it seems that the package has been added to the bios.bin. The file is twice the size of the original and there is now a small bios.rom in the same folder. Was the operation successful? I’m unsure if the bios.bin is safe to flash and what I need to do with the bios.rom.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I’m eager to get my cpu up and running.
